Instant Win. Instant Excitement. Instant Awareness

The CHKWIN instant win competition service allows Brand Owners to offer instant winning of random prizes through the use of a secure CHKBIZ PIN code, words or numbers. This provides excitement among customers who engage in word of mouth advertising for the competition which leads to instant awareness of the brand and competition.

Design Competition Parameters to Eliminate Budgetary Risk

If required, competition revenue can be derived through the used of a Premium-rated SMS service for the submission of entries. The prizes can then be awarded in proportion to the number or value of entries received, which eliminates financial risk for the Brand Owner. A range of different prizes of higher and lower values can also be offered and each prize level awarded to specific proportions of winner. The range of prizes offered, the frequency of winning entries and the proportional split of each type of prize can also be altered dynamically at any time while the competition is running. Thus, it is possible to begin with high pay-out rates, at a subsidised or only a break-even level, to generate word of mouth excitement and to later gradually reduce the pay-out rates to recover more costs or to derive a profit.

Agile, Reliable, Fast

CHKBIZ’s stable and robust platform also allows for the rapid deployment of the CHKWIN solution. This means that product owners can capitalize on market conditions as CHKBIZ can deliver a uniquely customised CHKWIN service within weeks of the project’s inception.

Real-time Business Information

CHKBIZ also provides the Brand Owner with access to the CHKDASH dashboard which allows them to monitor and analyse competitions in real-time, by product type, time period and often by geographic region . This information can be used by the Brand Owner to understand sales trends and even to trace product diversions. CHKBIZ also provides online Lookup screens customer relationship management for call centre staff who are able to lookup transactions as they occur.

Automated Support for Unlimited Variety of Product and Service Prizes

Prizes awarded to customers can be delivered immediately by CHKWIN in the form of virtual vouchers. Prize vouchers can then be redeemed directly at the Brand Owner and/or at any third party providers of product or services selected by the Brand Owner.

CHKWIN's secure voucher management system allows real-time access by authorised prize providers using internet or SMS. This always ensures that only the correctly entitled customers are served with the correct prizes.

Comprehensive audit trails of prize delivery transactions can be used to generate periodic reports per service provider; ensuring seamless and totally accurate re-imbursement from the Brand Owner.

Controlling Customer Spending

CHKWIN offers four safety features that can be put into place to prevent uncontrolled overspending on the part of the Brand Owner's customers. These include:

  • The ability to specify a limitation on the number of uses of a single PIN to enter.
  • The ability to specify a limitation on the valid lifetime of the PIN from the time of first use.
  • Have CHKWIN send the customer a "spend status" as part of the response message after x entries (e.g. ÿou have now entered 5 times and have spent R7.50").
  • The ability to specify an absolute limit on the number of entries per day/week/month that can be accepted from a single mobile number, after which the CHKWIN service will send a specified message e.g. informing the customer that no more entries can be accepted as valid until x future date.

Example 1: How the competition could work for an FMCG company (same word or set of numbers)

Entrants submit a word or set of numbers via SMS, WAP, MXit, Skype or webpage e.g. "Win" to enter the competition. The entrant will then receive an instant reply via the same communication method stating whether they have won or not.

Winning entrants could then be instructed to phone a call centre, interface with the company website or receive a prize voucher delivered by the CHKWIN service.

In the case of virtual prize vouchers, the customer uses the voucher to claim his/her prize directly from the Brand Owner or from an appointed third party provider of product or service prizes.

The prize provider uses SMS or internet to access the CHKWIN voucher management system and thereby ensures the provision of the correct prize. The same system then enables seamless and accurate re-imbursement from the Brand Owner.

Example 2: How the competition could work for a FMCG company (unique PIN)

In this example, a unique PIN code is provided with each purchase, often hidden under a secure scratch panel attached to the product or packaging. Entrants submit their PIN code to the CHKWIN service via SMS, WAP, MXit, Skype or a webpage and receive an instant reply stating whether they have won or not. The process then continues as per example 1 above.

The additional advantage of using a unique PIN code includes the ability to limit competition access to consumers who have actually bought the product and also the ability to limit the number of entries related to a single purchase.

Example 3: How the competition could work for a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) - Scratch Voucher

Entrants scratch off the foil to reveal the secure PIN code and submit the PIN code to an SMS competition number. They will then receive an instant reply SMS stating whether they have won or not. In the case of airtime prizes, the CHKWIN service will action an instant top-up of the winner's airtime.

It is also possible to award a wide variety of other product and service prizes as per the FMCG examples, Example 1 and Example 2.

Example 4: How the competition could work for a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) - Virtual PIN

Entrants qualify to enter the competition by recharging their mobile phone. The MNO sends a confirmation of the recharge and this contains an invitation to enter the competition as well as a unique, allocated PIN code.

The subscriber then has the opportunity to enter the competition by submitting the PIN code to a shortcode SMS number. The process then continues as per Example 3 above.
